Friends of Kauri Park School (FoKPS)
Friends of Kauri Park School is a fabulous team made up of dedicated whānau and kaiako (staff) representatives. Our role is to organise school fundraising and social events for tamariki and whānau. All money that we raise is used to support children’s learning and play, support teachers and buy essential resources for the kura (school). By volunteering your time and talents in this way, you enable the kura to provide richer and more vibrant learning experiences that would not be possible without volunteer assistance.
JOIN Friends of Kauri Park School
If you want to make a difference and have some fun, then please get in touch via Facebook. There's no barrier to membership - no secret handshakes or mottos to learn- anybody who is interested in contributing to the school community is welcome to join in. At any one time there is usually a mix of both parents who have been active in the school community for some time, and others new to the school. New faces and the fresh ideas they bring are always welcomed. Help out at one of the many fundraising events or come along to one of the FoKPS meetings (normally two per term) as a guest.
FoKPS Structure
Our structure has three levels.
The elected officers: These positions are elected at our annual AGM every year.
Jess Hurley-Smith (Chairperson)
Emma Kerley (Secretary)
Melanie Crang (Treasurer)
TBC (Staff Rep)Committee members: These are a wonderful group of parents who come to meetings, have voting rights & help run our various projects.
Casual Helpers: This is an email list of parents of whom we can call on to do little bits & pieces like picking up the sausages for Sausage Sizzles, or helping out for half an hour on the door at the disco.
Recent Fundraising Projects
The biggest focus of the FoKPS is the fundraising and funding of the school's 'wish list'. The school's wish list is put together by requests from parents and the school which are then prioritised. We feel it’s really important to show you, our community, what we are fundraising for and therefore we always want to communicate fundraising targets before and after events. The School’s wish list contains large and small budget $$ items, and can be: educational; related to school facilities; social; cultural; or help parents in some way. FoKPS are currently working towards a number of exciting projects. Updates will be shared on the FoKPS Facebook page and the school newsletter.
