In School - These are opportunites mainly run during lunchtimes and are generally used as opportunities to give any student, who is interested, the chance to "give it a go". We also use these to help select teams to represent our school at Inter School Events.
Inter School - These are competitions or festivals organised by schools or clubs. Local facilities are utilised and children get the chance to compete against our 7 cluster schools and even schools outside the cluster. Any costs associated with this is generally to cover transport.
After School - KPS organises a range of extracurricular sporting opportunities. As these are run outside of school hours, they require parents/caregivers to coach and manage the teams. They are user pays activities where the school acts as an admistrator to connect children with providers. The costs are designed so the school breaks even.
An email containing information about the sport is sent to all parents of the eligible year levels 2-3 weeks prior to the closing registration date (time permitting).
This email contains the link to Kindo, where parent help and payment can be made.
Once the closing date has passed the teams will be put together. Without adequate numbers of participants or coaches/managers we will be unable to enter teams into the competition.
After the closing date, late enrolments will only be allowed if teams require extra players to form a more sustainable squad size.
The teams wil be emailed out and the details made available to the coach/manager to instigate a communication group.
Ways you can support your childs volunteer coach:
offer to lead some additional training,
help with transport to and from events,
offer words of encouragement on the sidelines,
learning the Kauri Park School song, it'll be good to sing it when team morale is low.
